Step-by-step guides for Prixl Warden and Prixl Guard, written for whoever looks after the office server: you, your office manager or your IT vendor. Each guide says what you need before you start, which buttons to click, and how to check that it worked.
Prixl Warden
Warden is the security service that runs on your Windows server. It watches sign-ins and important changes, emails you about the serious ones, and gives you a dashboard on the server itself to fix weak settings and block attackers. See all Warden guides.
Set up
- System requirements: which Windows versions are supported and what the server needs to reach.
- Start your free trial and get the installer: sign up, confirm your email and save your org.lic key file.
- Install Warden on your server: the installer screens one by one, plus a silent install for IT vendors.
- Open the dashboard and find your way around: the desktop shortcut, the first-run pop-ups and what each tab is for.
Use Warden day to day
- Run the security audit and apply fixes
- Block attackers: manual blocks, auto-block and trusted IPs
- Restrict risky ports (Open Ports tab)
- Set working hours, recipients and which alerts you get
- What each Warden email means and what to do
Licence, updates and problems
- Updates and checking your version
- Trial, licence renewal and what happens at expiry
- Uninstall Warden
- Troubleshooting Warden
Prixl Guard (Secure Access)
Guard gives each invited staff member an encrypted connection to the office server, so Remote Desktop no longer has to be open to the whole internet. It is managed from the Secure Access tab of the Warden dashboard. See all Guard guides.
- How Guard works: connection methods, network needs, security
- Set up Secure Access on your server
- Invite a staff member
- For staff: install Guard and connect to the office server
- Lock Remote Desktop to Secure Access only (without locking yourself out)
- Revoke access, replace a laptop, re-invite
- Change the connection method (Prixl Magic or Classic Static IP)
- Troubleshooting Guard
Before you install
Check the system requirements first. Warden runs on Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 or newer. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are not supported.
